Caffeinated Carbon

by Evan Patz

This map visualizes the global flow of coffee between nations using trade data from the UN Comtrade database. Green countries are net exporters, blue countries are net importers, and the arcs connecting them represent volume traded.

Importing countries are shaded by estimated CO₂ emissions from the coffee trade, with lighter blues indicating higher emissions. Both the distance traveled and volume of the imported coffee drive a country's carbon footprint.
